Decision Technology is a research consultancy which provides bespoke services to commercial clients based on the statistical modelling of customer data, field surveys or online experiments. We are seeking a quantitative research analyst / data scientist to join our London based team. This Associate / Senior Associate role will involve:

  • Consulting with internal and client stakeholders to understand their needs and design appropriate research
  • Applying data science techniques on data sets of multiple types (research, behavioural, panel, economic) to develop strategic insights
  • Conducting surveys/experiments, implementing field research or handling existing data
  • Authoring presentations and other write-ups of these findings
  • Expertise in the following are desirable:
    • Data reduction (factor analysis), segmentation (cluster analysis)
    • Developing regression models (linear, logistic, multivariate)
    • Handling and analysing large time-series data sets

An ideal candidate has:

  • 2 – 3 years of prior relevant experience, intermediate level domain knowledge, typically obtained through advanced education from a top-rated institution combined with application experience, for example:
    • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years’ relevant experience
    • Master’s Degree and 2 years’ relevant experience
  • An ambition and passion to work commercially utilising academic research/analytical techniques
  • Experience with R and/or Python, including common data science libraries such as dplyr, ggplot2, data.table, shiny for R, and scikit-learn, statsmodels and pandas for Python
  • Experience working on cloud computing platforms such as AWS (e.g. SSH into remote servers, navigating and running scripts through a shell terminal)
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL)
  • Expertise in the following:
    • Developing mathematical models, preferably Bayesian statistical models
    • Data mining, processing, and visualisation of large time-series data sets
  • Experience with the following would be advantageous
    • JavaScript
    • Model selection e.g. goodness of fit measures, cross validation, handling assumption violations
    • Collaborating on analysis scripts e.g. picking up work a colleague has started, debugging a colleagues script
    • Working with data APIs or scraping data from online sources oVersion control systems such as Git
