Loyalty Schemes Report Published in BE Guide

Background Oval

Our report, “From Points to Profits: Designing the Optimal Loyalty Program“, by Henry Stott, Jerry Luukkonen and Miriam Makin, has now been published in The Behavioral Economics Guide 2025 from BehavioralEconomics.com.

In the report, we look at how to optimise the design of Loyalty Programs using behavioural science research. Dating back to 1851 or earlier, Loyalty Programs have a long history. Yet, there are large differences in their commercial success today. The report draws from our own Behaviourlab experiments to uncover the behavioural effects of various Loyalty Program features. Using these insights, we dissect which features best drive acquisition and engagement with Loyalty Schemes.

A well-designed Loyalty Scheme, incorporating our top-performing features, could attract +30% more customers over five years. However, the same features can perform very differently across sectors. We provide practical recommendations for tailoring a program to your particular market.
