“Singles are less likely to follow through on their New Year’s resolutions”


Approximately 12% of our sample made a New Year’s Resolution in January 2014, with women significantly (2.3 times) more likely to have made one. Of those who made a New Year’s Resolution in 2013, 50.4% of them managed to keep it. Regression analysis showed that those who are single, as opposed to married, widowed or divorced, are significantly (7.3 times) less likely to keep their resolution. When asked what their resolution was, the most frequent resolutions involved losing weight, being healthier and saving money.
